Roberto Carlos sends perfect message to Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of World Cup

Roberto Carlos has suggested Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has the talents to play for Brazil after he was named in the England squad for the World Cup.

Gareth Southgate ended all speculation by naming Alexander-Arnold in his 26-man England squad for the World Cup in Qatar. Chelsea's Reece James missed out after picking up a knee injury.

The former Real Madrid star picked England captain Harry Kane and the Liverpool full-back as the two Three Lions players he'd have in the Brazil side ahead of the World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold will likely battle it out with fellow right-back's Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier for a starting spot in England's first match against Iran.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Carlos sent a clear message about the talents of two England stars in particular.

He said: "[Alexander-Arnold] has to be there – because he’s among the best ones. Kane is a good player too. You have a good team, not just in terms of names but in terms of players who have trained well and are ready to play at a World Cup – or to play for the Brazilian national team.

"I’d say those two [Kane and Alexander-Arnold], but there are more. There’s a lot of quality. You have a lot of quality.”
