Shortly after news broke that the Tennessee Titans had released veteran wide receiver Robert Woods, the 30-year-old took to social media to express his excitement that he was out of Nashville.
The move to cut Woods was absolutely no surprise. He was not good for the Titans in 2022, struggling with separation and drops in his first season back from a torn ACL. He did lead the team in receiving yards, but that’s not saying much on what was one of the worst units in the NFL.
The move to cut Woods saves the Titans roughly $12 million in 2023, and with the move to release Taylor Lewan, which the left tackle confirmed on Wednesday, the team is now $2.9 million under the cap, per Over the Cap.
But nobody appears to be more excited to be out of Tennessee than Woods, who tweeted “free!” before asking social media where he should go next.
Free!
