It’s a new week, a new year and what feels like a strange new world for the Seattle Seahawks and their fans. Five days ago the team made the most-surprising decision in franchise history, removing Pete Carroll as their head coach after a successful 14-year run, including 10 playoff appearances, two trips to the Super Bowl and one win.
You can tell how stunning the news was to the locker room based on the players’ reactions – of which there are practically none to be found. Geno Smith, Bobby Wagner and a couple other players were present at Carroll’s final press conference. However, we have heard nothing from current players on social media about Carroll’s exit – an ominous sign for whoever may be coming in to replace him and all the more reason they should be targeting a big name like Bill Belichick.
So far, we’ve had to rely on takes from former players, many of whom have shared their appreciation for Carroll. Here’s former running back Robert Turbin admitting he was shocked by the news.
"I was really shocked that they let him go" 😨
