Robert Snodgrass Hearts exit 'decision made' as Steven Naismith reveals 'best outcome' after conversation

A decision on Robert Snodgrass' future at Hearts has 'been made' according to interim boss Steven Naismith.

The former Scotland international - who was under contract until the end of the season - looks set to leave the Tynecastle club just days after Robbie Neilson's sacking by the capital club following a poor run of results with defeat at home to St Mirren the final straw.

The veteran midfielder was sent off for the Jambos in that loss to Stephen Robinson's men - who are now just one point behind the capital club in the Premiership standings. The Gorgie men have dropped to fourth with Barry Robson's impact on Aberdeen continuing as they leapfrogged Hearts into third spot with just seven league games remaining.

The 35-year-old featured 25 times since signing on a free transfer in September and found the net once against the Buddies earlier this season. He also contributed four assists during his time at the club but Naismith has hinted that he may not feature again.

Naismith told the Hearts website: "I had a conversation with Snoddy. I have a good relationship with Snoddy as a player and a teammate.

"The decision’s been made that he’s probably not going to get many minutes. I’ve experienced that myself as a player and we had a talk about it.

"Snoddy’s family are still down south and the best outcome for everybody would be that he gets time to spend with his family and I focus on a group that’s going to go forward."
