Arsenal could be forced to sign Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina rather in the January transfer window rather instead of the summer, due to Robert Lewandowski’s uncertain future.
According to German outlet BILD, Bayern Munich could decide to sell the Polish striker in the summer, if he does not want to renew his contract which ends in June 2023.
The report has gone on to say that the Bundesliga holders are targeting Erling Haaland as a potential replacement for the 33-year-old.
Haaland’s transfer to Bayern Munich would spell trouble for Arsenal because Spanish outlet SPORT recently claimed that Barcelona would target Vlahovic if they were unable to complete a deal for Haaland.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein , Arsenal and Fiorentina are happy to agree on a fee for the striker, but the deal is dependent on the player and the agent.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed the Gunners will need to pay an £8.3 million commission fee to the player’s agent, which is reportedly preventing Edu from completing a deal for the striker.
This is made even more expensive by the fact that the club must reportedly be willing to shell out a deal totalling £150 million, with Vlahovic demanding £160,000-a-week in order to seal the move, according to the Daily Mail .
The issues surrounding the deal for the Serbian forward would make it more likely for Arsenal to return in the summer when Vlahovic would only have 12 months remaining on his contract, and the finances will be less demanding.
However, with Barcelona lurking if Bayern Munich lands Haaland, then Arsenal must bite the bullet and do what it takes to sign the 21-year-old in the winter window.
Bayern Munich have signed Borrusia Dortmund’s best players in the past most notable Lewandowski and Mario Gotze, so Haaland making a switch to the Bavarian club is certainly a possibility.
The Gunners have identified Vlahovic as the main striker transfer target, and he would certainly be the answer to Arsenal’s problems in the attacking area.
Not only does Mikel Arteta’s side lack a real physical and aerial presence in the final third, but this team could be without a recognised striker by the time the start of the next season kicks off.
Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette’s contracts run out at the end of the season. Meanwhile, it appears Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could also be on his way out of the club.
Edu needs to wrap up the deal for Vlahovic before Lewandowski makes a definite decision on his Bayern Munich future, to prevent the risk of losing out on a striker who could elevate Arsenal for the next few seasons.
