Robert Lewandowski's desire to play for Barcelona is to show he is "better" than Karim Benzema, says his former agent Cezary Kucharski.
Barcelona are pursuing the signing of the Bayern Munich striker, but a deal is proving rather difficult. The Spanish giants will reportedly have one last go at sealing a transfer by submitting a final offer.
The German giants, who are valuing their player at £52million, rejected an initial offer of £30m plus £4m in add-ons. The Poland international is keen on a move to Spain after stating his era at Bayern was over and is hopeful the club will facilitate his switch.
"He wants to prove that he is better than Benzema, it's another reason [he wants] to go to Barcelona," Kurcharski told Radio Ser. "Lewandowski has no dreams. For him, playing football is a job and he is very professional. Real Madrid and Barcelona are at the same level."
The striker did not hide his feelings over a departure from Allianz Arena last month: "My era at Bayern is over," he said. "I don’t see any possibility to continue playing for this club. Bayern’s a serious club and I believe they won’t keep me – I don’t want to play there any more. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don’t stop me."
Meanwhile, Xavi said of the interest for the striker back in May. "Lewandowski is one of the players who could come to us," he said. "He has already expressed that himself. Negotiations are underway, but it will not be easy, we can't spend a lot of money."

But one thing standing in the way is Barca's well-documented financial situation, who need to sell in order to buy. If a deal is not completed, the 33-year-old who still has another year left on his current Bayern deal, will be required to report back to pre-season training next week.
Kurcharski remains confident, however. "I think it's possible," he said. "Barcelona and Lewandowski are going to fight for this signing. I think he's going to sign for Barcelona."
While at the Allianz Arena, Lewandowski broke legendary striker Gerd Muller's record - scoring the most goals in a calendar year and a single campaign.
