Robert Lewandowski leaves door open for Chelsea transfer decision as Romelu Lukaku plots exit

Robert Lewandowski looks set to hand Chelsea a major boost ahead of the upcoming transfer window. The 33-year-old striker, who has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, has reportedly come to a conclusion regarding his future.

The Poland international featured 34 times for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season, directly contributing towards 39 goals. Despite his age, Lewandowski's impressive displays steered the German giants to a tenth successive title, attracting attention from a host of leading European sides.

He sees his contract at the Allianz Arena expire at the end of next season, casting an element of doubt over his future in Germany. Despite the west London side's interest, the Guardian have outlined that Barcelona is the striker's favoured destination.

Fabrizio Romano has added that there is 'no way for other clubs' to tempt Lewandowski away from a move to the Camp Nou. He claims that the striker has already verbally agreed a three-year deal.

Amid the Lewandowski transfer saga, Bayern have emerged as a potential destination for Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to reports in Spain. They've identified the 28-year-old as a possible replacement for the Polishman, should he leave the club.

The Chelsea striker has struggled to acclimatise to the Premier League upon his return to west London. Lukaku, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, found the net just 17 times in 44 appearances this season and his overriding misfortune in front of goal often saw him relegated to the bench.

football.london understand that Lukaku were to hold talks with Todd Boehly and the higher-ups ahead of making his final decision. Whether or not these talks have happened or not seem to have had no impact on the striker who reportedly wants nothing to do with current boss Tuchel 'anymore', according to the latest Italian reports via Sport Witness.

So, with Lewandowski seemingly eager to leave Bayern and Lukaku keen to leave depart west London, the former can facilitate the latter's move to the Allianz Arena this summer. Metaphorically speaking, Lewandowski could essentially be leaving the door open on his exit ready for Chelsea to make a decision regarding Lukaku's future.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport has clarified that the Blues want to sign Lewandowski from the German champions, but know that it will be easier if they can sell Lukaku there as a replacement. With the Polishman potentially on the move, relinquishing the Belgian's services could be made easier.

Tuchel spoke on Lukaku's future at the club ahead of the FA Cup final last month. He said: "I think if he plans to talk with the owner, maybe it is not his plan to talk with me. It's fair enough. Let's see if he gets a meeting! It is his right. We will talk to anybody.

"We will evaluate any situation of any player, including Romelu. We will see what is going to happen and what the plans are."
