Robert Lewandowski and Bayern Munich make claims on striker's future amid Chelsea transfer links

Chelsea target and Bayern Munich marksmen Robert Lewandowski has admitted that his current chapter in Bavaria is now 'over' - but the Bundesliga club have hit back at his claims.

Both the Blues and Xavi's Barcelona are looking to improve their forward lines this summer to close the gap to the top in their respective leagues. Unsurprisingly with the pedigree of both clubs, the Polish international has drawn strong interest from the European pair. Getting goals was a major problem for Thomas Tuchel's side in 2021/22. Following Todd Boehly's takeover, the club are seeking to reinforce the squad ahead of 2022/23.

This is where Lewandowski comes into the equation, and alongside the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Lautaro Martinez, Bayern Munich's second-ever highest goalscorer reportedly features prominently on Tuchel's wish-list for the summer. However, Barcelona look to be his favoured destination.

"Barca move? It depends on several factors. I think my situation is clear and there is no point talking about that," he recently told Eleven Sports. "It is hard to say that I will play for Bayern next season."

The striker has now added more fuel to the fire with a new exit admission: "My era at Bayern is over. I don't see any possibility to continue playing for this club anymore," he told local media in Germany.

"Bayern’s a serious club and I believe they won’t keep me, I don't want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don't stop me. I hope Bayern won’t stop me just because I’ve a contract until June 2023… maybe I can give you information after international matches."

In spite of this clear message from the 33-year-old, it doesn't seem as though the Bundesliga champions are happy with how their key man has conducted himself with these latest set of comments. At least judging by Oliver Kahn's latest comments on the matter.

The Bayern director responded to Lewandowski's request via German outlet Sport1: "I can't tell you why Robert chose this way to communicate his situation. Public statements like that don't get you anywhere.

"Robert should know what he has at Bayern. Appreciation is not a one-way street."
