Robert Lewandowski ‘afraid’ of Chelsea move as Premier League fears are revealed

Robert Lewandowski wants to “avoid” a move to Chelsea as the striker fears he would struggle to be as successful in the Premier League.

The 33-year-old is desperate to leave Bayern Munich this summer, urging the Bundesliga club to let him leave rather than forcing him to see out the final year of his contract.

His preferred destination is Barcelona, though it’s uncertain whether they are in a financial position to make the move happen.

That has given encouragement to other clubs, with Chelsea and PSG reportedly entering the race for Lewandowski. The Blues in particular could push for the Polish striker, with Romelu Lukaku seemingly edging towards the exit door at Stamford Bridge.

However, a move to Chelsea could be hampered by Lewandowski’s reluctance to play in England.

That’s according to his former agent, Cezary Kucharski, who claims that while the player in the past used the English weather as an excuse to avoid a transfer to the Premier League, there was in fact a more important factor.

“I always heard Robert give a childish explanation that it rains so much in England,” Kucharski told Sport 1.

“But I think the real reason was that he didn’t think he could be as efficient as in Germany. Robert was really afraid of that.”
