Robert Kraft Wants Tom Brady to Retire As a Patriot

Tom Brady announced he is retiring from football as a Buccaneer on Wednesday, but if it was up to Robert Kraft, the star quarterback’s last NFL contract would be with the Patriots

The New England team owner appeared on CNN, where he was asked if he’d sign Brady to a one-day contract so he could retire with the Patriots, the team with which he won six Super Bowls.

“I’d do it tomorrow,” Kraft told CNN. “Not only do I want it, our fans are clamoring for it, and to us, he always has been and always will be a Patriot . . . We will do everything in our power to bring him back, have him sign off as a Patriot and find ways to honor him for many years to come.

“He did so much to bring life and good cheer to our community and he’s a beloved figure and he’s earned the respect and love that people feel for him like no other athlete in our town and we’ve had some great ones,” Kraft added.

Brady was drafted in 2000 by New England, where he spent 19 years of his life before eventually moving on to the Buccaneers in 2020.
