Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has officially qualified for the presidential ballot in Nebraska, as confirmed by the Nebraska Secretary of State's office. The office announced that Kennedy's campaign successfully gathered and submitted 4,442 valid signatures, exceeding the required 2,500 signatures to secure a spot on the ballot for the upcoming election in November.
Despite an objection raised by the Nebraska Democratic Party questioning Kennedy's eligibility as a nonpartisan candidate due to his past affiliations with the Democratic Party and minor parties in other states, the Secretary of State's office ruled in favor of Kennedy, stating that he has met all the necessary criteria to be listed on the ballot.
Assuming there are no legal challenges, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be listed as a nonpartisan candidate in the US presidential race on Nebraska's general election ballot.
Nebraska now joins the list of battleground states where Kennedy has successfully gained ballot access, positioning him to compete for the state's five electoral votes, including the crucial electoral vote from Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District. This district was won by former President Donald Trump in 2016 but was flipped by President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
With Nebraska included, Kennedy has secured ballot access in a total of 12 states, including key battleground states like Michigan and North Carolina, as well as California, Utah, Hawaii, New Mexico, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Delaware, and South Carolina. In total, Kennedy is now eligible for 145 electoral votes.
