Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently discussed his border policy proposals during an interview. He emphasized the need to address the increasing number of undocumented immigrants crossing the border. Kennedy highlighted the importance of completing the infrastructure at the border, particularly in urban areas, by implementing physical barriers. He suggested that while a continuous wall may not be necessary along the entire length of the border, it is essential to have physical barriers in urban regions where illegal migrants can easily disappear. In addition, Kennedy stressed the importance of surveillance in rural areas through the use of long-range cameras, sensors, and lighting systems. He also emphasized the need for well-maintained access roads and empowered personnel to effectively regulate border crossings.
Another key aspect of Kennedy's approach involves putting asylum judges at the border to quickly adjudicate cases. He also expressed the importance of reviving the Migrant Protection Act, which would enable border agents to keep asylum seekers in Mexico while their cases are being processed.
Kennedy expressed his concern over the escalating number of border crossings, highlighting that a record number of border crossings occurred in December. He argued that allowing 5,000 migrants to cross the border illegally on average per day, as proposed in a bipartisan project, is unacceptable and would lead to an annual influx of 1.8 million undocumented immigrants.
Regarding his campaign, Kennedy reassured that he would be on the ballot in every state. He mentioned his successful collection of signatures in New Hampshire and expressed confidence in his ground team's ability to fulfill the necessary requirements in all 50 states. He also mentioned the possibility of seeking the Libertarian Party's ballot position, citing a good relationship with the party and upcoming speaking engagements.
Although Kennedy did not provide a definitive answer regarding his collaboration with the Libertarian Party, he acknowledged ongoing discussions and expressed comfort with their values. He highlighted the Libertarian Party's admiration for his stance against mandates and lockdowns as potential grounds for collaboration.
Kennedy indicated that more news may emerge in the future regarding his relationship with the Libertarian Party.
