Drena De Niro shared a new heartbreaking post on Instagram following the death of her son.
Leandro De Niro Rodriguez died at the weekend aged just 19. Drena first broke the news on Monday, and has now shared another tribute to her son.
In her latest Instagram Stories post, Drena shared a post by one of her son's friends. The image showed Leandro and his friend smiling and shaking hands.
Drena captioned the share: "Rest in peace and paradise darling Leandro DeNiro-Rodriguez." She finished the post by sharing praying hands emojis and a love heart.
On the initial post by Leandro's friend, Drena wrote: "My heart is broken forever. I miss my baby so much. Thank you Matthew for the love and concern you always showed to both Leo and even me .
"Please for Leo’s sake , take care of yourselves that’s what he would want."
Drena first broke the news of her son's death on social media earlier in the day.
She shared an image of her son alongside an emotional post, which read: "My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life.
"I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don't know how to live without you but I'll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama.
"You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you I'm so sorry my baby, I'm so sorry @carlosmare. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy."
And his grandad, Hollywood star Robert De Niro later released a short statement to share his grief.
He said: "I’m deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo.
"We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo."
Leandro was found "unconscious and unresponsive" after 911 was called to a building on Wall Street on Sunday July 2, a police report said.
The statement read: "On Sunday, July 2, 2023, at approximately 1423 hours, police received a 911 call of an aided at 55 Wall Street, in the confines of the 1 Precinct."
Leandro was pronounced dead at the scene and there is no cause of death yet revealed.
He was an aspiring actor and director and had been trying to follow in his mother and grandfather's career footsteps.
