Robbie Williams has joked he could pack out Knebworth Park again like Liam Gallagher if he sold his tickets as cheaply as the former Oasis frontman does.

Oasis made history by playing the iconic venue in 1996 when he performed to 250,000 people across two nights.

But Williams went one better by performing to 375,000 fans across three nights in 2003.

Liam Gallagher made a triumphant return to Knebworth near Stevenage on Friday and Saturday night where he played to up to 160,000 fans.

Asked by NME magazine whether he had any desire to make a similar return, Williams praised the singer’s latest album but he couldn’t resist joking he could pack out the venue if he sold tickets cheaply too.

“I don’t know if you revisit [Knebworth], though. Do you revisit it? I’m sure we’d do OK if we sold tickets as cheaply [as Liam],” he told the magazine.

Tickets for the Britpop icon’s shows were priced at around £65.

Williams quickly added: “Can I just apologise for saying the “cheaply” thing – if you write that, can you say I apologise; I was being b****y.

“[Knebworth] is not something that’s on my radar. Glastonbury, on the other hand – I’d like to do that.”

Williams was speaking in London ahead of the launch of his latest album ‘XXV’ which marks 25 years of his career as a solo artist.

The popstar, who is a self-confessed Oasis fan, has previously cheekily clashed with the Gallagher brothers.

He allegedly sent Noel Gallagher a pair of tap dancing shoes when he sold out three nights at Knebworth with the message: “Dear Mr N Gallagher, you said two nights at Knebworth is history. Well, I guess three is just greedy. Yours, Rob”.

Noel Gallagher, meanwhile, famously dubbed Williams “the fat dancer from Take That”.

Liam Gallagher's gigs at Knebworth were the first by a band or solo act at the venue since the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in 2012.

The gigs caused traffic chaos with the closure of a motorway after police said a “small minority" of fans left the gigs through unauthorised exits.

Hertfordshire Police said junction seven of the A1(M) had to be temporarily closed in both directions after the gigs over safety concerns.
