Robbie Williams Is Throwing A Free Concert In Melbourne Today So Get Your Ass To Fed Square RN

If you’re in Melbourne and not currently sprinting towards Federation Square, what are you even doing with your life? British pop sensation Robbie Williams is about to grace us with his presence for a free gig, so you better “Pray” you can make it in time.

Robbie Williams has decided to grace Melbourne with an impromptu gig. The singer, who’s been in Australia promoting his new biopic Better Man (spoiler alert: he’s played by a CGI chimp, because why not?), is set to rock Fed Square this arvo at 5pm.

Just a heads up, the concert will be affecting some roads from 3pm to 7pm. There will be road closures between Russell and Elizabeth Streets and Flinders Street to Princess Bridge. So plan your route accordingly.

Fed Square can accommodate about 8,000 fans, which is roughly/probably equivalent to the number of people who’ve already sung along to “Angels” at karaoke night this year. If it gets too packed (and let’s be real, it probably will), they’ll have an overflow area set up which promoters will release closer to the event time.

The concert isn’t just about the music; Robbie will also be participating in a Q&A-style interview. So get ready for some juicy insights into his life as a pop star and why he agreed to be depicted as a monkey in his own biopic.

If you still don’t believe me, you can watch the trailer here:

The movie was actually shot in Docklands Studios and was produced by a Victorian team and received financing from the federal and Victorian government.

As reported by The Age, VicScreen says the film production “spent $142 million in the state and created 2920 jobs, including 672 crew, 160 post-production and visual effects, 14 heads of department, 110 cast and almost 2000 extras”.

So, to thank Robbie for his contribution to the city, he will also be presented with the Keys to the City by Lord Mayor Nick Reece at the event today, according to the Fed Square Instagram post.

The whole event will last about an hour — perfect for those of us with terrible attention spans (guilty).

Federation Square has advised that public transport is your best bet for getting there. Enter from Swanston Street, and if you arrive late and find the Square full, don’t panic; they’ll redirect you to that overflow area we mentioned earlier.

And just in case you’re worried about safety, Fed Square have ramped up security measures with extra staff and amenities.

A spokesperson for Victoria police said resources had been allocated to the concert.

“Our aim [is] to ensure those present have a safe and enjoyable evening,” said a spokesperson for Victoria Police per The Guardian.

So there you have it! Your Thursday plans are officially sorted, you’re welcome!! Now get out of here!!
