Rangers will look to extend Robbie Ure's Ibrox contract over the coming weeks, according to a report.
The youngster, 18, has made two appearances for the first team this season under the guidance of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, which even included his first professional goal in the Scottish League Cup match against Queen of the South at the end of August. Ure has also further excelled in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored three goals and registered two assists despite Rangers' under-19 squad failing to qualify in a group that consisted of heavyweights Napoli, Ajax and Liverpool.
With his contract up at the end of the season, the last thing Rangers chiefs would want is for one of their best academy talents of the past few years to leave for a minimal fee, and according to Football Scotland, the Ibrox side will offer an extension to tie him down to a longer future in Govan.
Ure has 10 goals and six assists in 16 games in the Lowland League this year, putting Rangers B top of the fifth tier with comfortable ease. With first team appearances potentially becoming more commonplace throughout the season, his development at Ibrox could be best served by learning from new management alongside pros such as Steven Davis and Scott Arfield.
Van Bronckhorst's preference to use him ahead of other youngsters could have spelled disaster upon his departure at the end of November, though with a new deal being offered, Michael Beale could follow in the Dutchman's footsteps by utilising the Glaswegian-born youngster when possible.
With European experience under his belt, Ure has shown that he can mix it with some of the continent's best prodigies, running the show in wins over Napoli and coming close against Liverpool.
