Robbie Savage teases Chris Sutton over Rangers boss Michael Beale spat but Celtic hero issues loaded 'worst ever' quip

Smirking Chris Sutton has clapped back at Robbie Savage as he attempted to take a dig at the Celtic hero over his row with Michael Beale.

The Rangers boss refused to name the former Hoops' striker during a heated response to Sutton, who described the Record Sport columnist Sutton as a “comedy act” and the “worst ever player” to turn out for his boyhood heroes Chelsea. The former Celtic hero provoked the ire of the Rangers boss after questioning if he would have allowed Ange Postecoglou's side to score as he did with Partick Thistle following Malik Tillman's controversial Scottish Cup goal.

Former Wales international Manchester United kid Savage was keen to have a swipe at his fellow pundit on BT Sport Score after the tirade with his Chelsea career being ripped apart. Sutton was put on the spot about Beale's comments after James Tavernier had netted the opener from the penalty spot against Livingston.

He said: "A bit of pressure on Mick Beale after his comments in the week, good for him. A tough place to go Livingston on the plastic. It's a difficult venue, who got the goal? Oh, it's a penalty. You couldn't make that up."

Fellow pundit Savage attempted to troll Sutton over the spat, sarcastically chiming in: 'I thought it was a bit harsh to call him Chelsea's worst ever player..." However, the Celtic hero wouldn't give him a chance to reply. He said: "In fairness Robbie, I'd rather be Chelsea's worst ever player than Manchester United's reserves worst ever player."
