Robbie Keane has given a glowing review of Leeds United duo Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips ahead of their Monday night clash against Crystal Palace. The Whites were boosted by Phillips' return to the starting line-up after the England international missed a large chunk of the season.
Central defender Cooper has also been a big miss during his enforced absence, and his return to the backline has coincided with a reduction in goals conceded. It's no secret that Leeds missed the two players, along with the likes of Patrick Bamford during a season that has been beset by injuries.
And speaking on Monday Night Football, former Leeds striker Keane revealed how highly he rates the pair and their importance to the Whites, especially with their current position in the Premier League table. Not least Phillips, who will be looking to re-establish himself in Gareth Southgate's England squad.

"He’s the protector," Keane said of the midfield lynchpin. "He can protect the back four. He’s the one that starts the build up. Top player.
"To have him back at this stage of the season, him and Cooper, big characters in the dressing room. He’s proben how vital he is to Leeds. They’re certainly going to need them if they are going to stay-up.
"I know the lads speak very highly of him," Keane added of Scotland international Cooper. "He’s the leader. Since he’s been back in the team, they look more solid.
"He’s been brilliant since he’s been in. Having your captain back certainly helps the team."
