Robbie Keane attends Garth Brooks' Croke Park concert alongside celebrity pals

Garth Brooks has finally played Croke Park and from the sound of it, it was worth the wait.

Among those to wax lyrical about the first of his five nights in GAA headquarters was Ireland's record goalscorer Robbie Keane and his wife Claudine.

In a glowing Instagram post, she wrote: "What a performance @garthbrooks super night Croke park was a sea of green."

The couple looked to have had a brilliant view as they took in the country star's string of hits alongside Brian Ormond and Pippa O'Connor.

Those who were lucky enough to be there on opening night were treated to a stunning show consisting of his best hits, and even some covers of fan-favourites.

His wife, Trisha Yearwood also joined him on stage at one point to sing their rendition of ‘Shallow,’ which went down a treat with fans in attendance.

Feedback from everyone who attended the much-anticipated opening few nights has been almost universally positive.

One person wrote: “Fantastic night at Garth Brooks. Played for 2hrs, all the hits, put on an amazing show. Haters be damned, I’d go again.”

Another said: “Garth brooks is simply an amazing performer! What a show tonight!”

A third said they wish they were there tonight again, writing: “That was such an amazing show, I’m going to have FOMO hearing tonight’s show from home.”

Among the thousands of messages of praise was one fan who gave some important advice to those headed to the remaining four shows at the Drumcondra venue.

They took to social media and wrote: “Great night, but my god if you’re going tomorrow bring lozenges. Belted out every song and now I have no voice lol.”

Garth will take to the stage again tonight as the sold-out gigs will see 400,000 fans descend on Drumcondra this weekend, and again next week, on September 16 and 17 due to popular demand.
