One aspect of Liverpool’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Leicester City that stood out was the birthplace of the two goalscorers.
The two Liverpool-born players in their starting line-up, Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both got their names on the scoresheet. But when was the last time multiple Scousers scored in the same game for the Reds?
Well, anyone paying attention to Robbie Fowler’s Instagram story last night would have been given a clue.

The Liverpool icon posted a picture of both himself and Steven Gerrard above a photo of Jones and Alexander-Arnold, tagging the three along with a handshake emoji.
This was in reference to match in February 2007 when Fowler converted two first-half penalties and Gerrard scored on 73 minutes in a 4-0 drubbing of Sheffield United. Before their latest victory, that was the last time two Scousers scored in the same match for Liverpool.
However, if Jamie Carragher is reading, he might point to a match against Middlesbrough at Anfield in August 2008 when he and Gerrard scored both of Liverpool’s goals in a 2-1 win, although the defender’s goal eventually went down as an Emmanuel Pogatetz own goal.
Anyone who consults one of several grainy highlights packages of the match that can be found on YouTube will probably reluctantly conclude the Dubious Goals Panel got it right on that occasion.
