Robbie Fowler has hope for Leeds United's survival chances as he tips Everton for relegation

Robbie Fowler expects Leeds United to avoid Premier League relegation as he believes Everton will finish in the bottom three. Despite the decent form that Frank Lampard’s side have enjoyed in recent weeks, the former Whites striker doesn’t think they will have enough to stay in the top flight.

It is likely to be a battle that goes right down to the wire with the two teams, as well as Burnley, at real risk of occupying the final relegation place. The progress that the Clarets have made in recent weeks was brought to an abrupt halt on Saturday as they were beaten 3-0 by Aston Villa at home.

Mike Jackson’s side are now seen, by the bookmakers, as favourites to be relegated with Leeds second favourites and Everton outsiders. However, Fowler doesn’t think that is how the final few games of the season will pan out.

“Today has dragged them [Burnley] back into it,” he said on BT Sport. “If they’d have got that result, I think they would have been safe and between Everton and Leeds.

“Everton have got a bit of momentum, they’re on a bit of a roll at the minute. You seen the atmosphere at the game the other week, the desire from the fans the fans. I’m going to say... I’m going for Everton [to go down].”

A lot will rest on how the Toffees get on in their visit to face Leicester while Leeds are navigating the tough task of Arsenal at the Emirates. Even if they are beaten by the Foxes, Everton have game-in-hand over the Whites and Burnley which could take them out of the relegation zone.

With just a handful of games left of this Premier League campaign, plenty of twists and turns are still expected and it is unlikely that the relegation battle will be decided ahead of the final day of the season on May 22.
