Wrexham co-owner and Hollywood star Rob McElhenney was reduced to tears in a Welsh pub when fans sang his name.
In town to watch Wrexham's 1-1 draw against Boreham Wood last weekend, McElhenney joined fans in The Turf pub next to the Racecourse Ground afterwards where he spent time with fans for hours and watched a live performance from local band Declan Swans, reports The Mirror.
The band sang a song dedicated to the well-documented Hollywood takeover of the club, with McElhenney being seen brushing a tear from his eye.
The lyrics are listed here:
Less than a mile from the centre of town,
a famous old stadium was crumbling down,
No one invested so much as a penny,
so bring on the Deadpool and Rob McElhenney!
McElhenney and fellow actor Ryan Reynolds took their first foray into football when they took over the Welsh outfit in 2021, and have since been busy promoting the club to their global fanbases amid regular visits to games in between filming for a documentary series Welcome to Wrexham on Disney+ (which has been renewed for a second season).
McElhenney was in attendance for Wrexham Women's match last Sunday, where they won 5-2 against Llandudno. He also attended Wrexham men's 3-1 win against Halifax Town on Tuesday. The Always Sunny In Philadelphia star also spent time at a food bank over the past week.
Wrexham host Altrincham at the Racecourse Ground this Saturday at 3pm.
