Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski admits he’s a fan of Las Vegas Raiders rookie Brock Bowers.
Bowers has taken the NFL by storm right out of the gates. He has recorded 15 catches for 156 yards in his first two games in the league. The former University of Georgia standout is coming off a performance against the Baltimore Ravens where he recorded nine catches for 98 yards.
He averaged 10.9 yards per reception, and a 27-yard grab was his longest of the day.
Bowers was a dynamic playmaker for the Bulldogs, and he is seeing those skills translate to the NFL. Gronkowski appeared on the “Up and Adams Show” and gave props to the rookie, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Jason Ounpraseuth.
“Brock Bowers, I was a big fan of him when he was with Georgia,” said Gronkowski. “The guy’s a winner. The guy’s a playmaker whenever the ball’s thrown to him. I love his explosiveness after the catch. I feel like he’s on track to be better than myself.
“I don’t think he can dominate in the trenches like I dominated in the trenches, but overall, just as a pass-catching threat, I think he can surpass me in many situations. I mean, he already has 15 catches, the most by any rookie of all time in their first two games as a tight end. So shoutout to Brock Bowers. I can’t wait to continue watching him.”
It’s certainly exciting to see the next wave of tight ends make their impact. One has to wonder if Bowers will be able to continue the consistent production and become a household name in short order.
