Rob Gronkowski Fuels Colts-Patriots Rivalry by Poking Fun at Deflategate Complaints

It’s almost been nine years since the infamous AFC championship game of the 2014 season where the Patriots absolutely embarrassed the Colts in front of the sports world in a blowout. The story that followed that game wasn't how dominant New England was, though—instead, it was the birthplace of the infamous Deflategate scandal.

To this day, former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski holds contempt for Colts fans for their role in it all.

“I absolutely hate the Colts, bro,” Gronkowski said on former teammate Julain Edelman’s Games With Names podcast. “They needed to find some B.S. answer of why they kept losing us every single year. And, they weren’t just losing to us, we were absolutely pounding that a--. I don’t like them.

“Like, you can’t be any bigger of a loser pulling that off,” Gronkowski continued.

On Jan. 18, 2015, New England crushed Indianapolis 45–7 en route to yet another Super Bowl victory. However, controversy followed when the Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady were investigated for deflating footballs for a competitive advantage, and Brady was ultimately dealt a four-game suspension while the franchise was fined $1 million and forfeited two draft picks in 2016.

Colts fans consistently called the Patriots cheaters and wouldn’t let them forget. And, to this day, Gronkowski is still upset about all the flack his team got for the blowout win.
