Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is leaving the door open for a possible Patriots-Tom Brady reunion.
The tight end and quarterback were a dynamic duo the moment Gronkowski entered the league in 2010. He recorded 521 receptions for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns during his time with New England. Gronkowski followed Brady to Tampa Bay, where the pair had success in winning a Super Bowl.
Gronkowski recorded 100 catches for 1.425 yards and 13 touchdowns in two seasons with the Buccaneers.
He knows Brady well, and he did nothing to discredit the reunion rumors as the Patriots offense struggles this season. He offered his thoughts on the speculation of a reunion, per FOX News’ Scott Thompson.
“I mean, if Tom really wanted to, I’m sure that it would be all open arms to go back to New England. I would just have to say all parties would need to want it,” Gronkowski said.
“But he has the opportunity to go wherever he would love to go. It’s Tom Brady. If he wanted to go back home to the San Francisco 49ers, I’m sure that would be open. If he wanted to go back home to the Patriots, I’m sure those doors would be open. If he 100% wants to stay in Tampa Bay, those doors would be wide open. It’s all on him.”
As for now, the Patriots have Mac Jones at quarterback. The latter is in the midst of a playoff push, as New England looks to win its second game in a row against the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday.
