Rob Burrow's sweet tribute to 'super girl' wife Lindsey after Leeds marathon heroics

Rob Burrow has praised his wife after she raised more than £61,497 in the marathon held in his honour over the weekend.

A number of Leeds Rhinos' ex-players ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, including Kevin Sinfield who crossed the finish line with Rob. Plus, the current crop of stars played their part in the event too.

The event, which started and finished at Headingley Stadium, yesterday (May 14) saw the likes of Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Jamie Peacock and Barrie McDermott take part, while head coach Rohan Smith also ran the half marathon course.

Before the marathon, Sinfield revealed more than £3million had been raised for various charities through the marathon, with over £1 million of that going to Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. Wife Lindsey took part in the run and launched a Just Giving crowdfunder which has netted more than £61,497 in donations.

Posting on Twitter today, Rob said: "The whole day was one day in a million? I'm going to say my wife is a super girl and I can't believe how proud I am of Lindsey. X"

The money she raised will be going towards the new Rob Burrow MND Centre, which the couple hope will be built in Leeds, to help other MND patients like Rob and their families.
