Rob Beckett jokes he’ll take ITV to court after he was 'replaced' on Masked Singer

Rob Beckett has joked about being replaced on The Masked Singer after Traffic Cone was revealed to be singer Aled Jones.

The comic, 36, had been teasing fans that he was indeed the man behind the mask, but Saturday's show on ITV saw Aled revealed.

However, that didn't stop Rob's efforts to fool people and he took to Twitter to continue his pretence.

He tagged the show and broadcast in a tweet, writing: "Livid @ITV replaced me with @realaled and re filmed the reveal because I let slip.

"Real Phoebe from Friends Smelly Cat energy."

After the ITV account replied with a laughing face emoji, Rob fired back: "See you in court."

However, ITV weren't prepared for him to get the "win" and responded: ""Bring the ‘original footage’ with you" alongside a winking emoji.

Rob went on to congratulate Aled for his performance on the show, writing: "Well done mate. Apologies for trying to steal your glory."

Aled played along with Rob's joke, though, tweeting after his exit: "We all know who the OG traffic cone is."

Fans had been loving the on-going joke and following the reveal pleaded with ITV bosses to make Rob's joke a reality for next year's series.

One fan wrote: "Have to say, that was a great gag - and a plea to be on it next year!"

It all began after Rob jokingly told fans last month that bosses at ITV were fuming with him after he "accidentally revealed" he was character.

He posted a tweet which he mocked was meant for his social media team, writing: "Just send this out once I’ve been unmasked."

The fake tweet read: "Thanks for all the support being the Traffic Cone I absolutely loved it. Great show. The kids couldn’t believe it was me."

Before that he had joked about a conflict and said ITV "still won't pay me" after pretending he had outed himself as Traffic Cone.

Back in reality and judges Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora and Davina McCall, as well as guest judge Dame Joan Collins, were completely shocked by Aled's reveal.

Speaking to host Joel Dommett, he said: "Can I go back to singing classical songs now?"

The weekend's latest instalment also saw former Destiny's Child singer revealed as Rockhopper.

The American songstress explained how she used a range of accents to confuse the panel.

She said: "I couldn't come out talking like me. I was behind my mask cracking up."
