Fresh off a change in coach, Brisbane will attempt to kickstart their A-League Women season when they host Western United.
The Roar stunned the ALW when they parted ways with Garrath McPherson just four games - two wins, a loss and a draw - into the campaign, following a defeat to Wellington and a draw with Central Coast.
Defender Chelsea Blissett expected a lift in intensity under her former Melbourne City assistant coach Alex Smith, who took the reins this week, in Sunday's game at Ballymore.
"Garrath did a lot for the club and we're very appreciative of him but I've also had the pleasure of working with Alex for the past couple of years," Blissett said.
"I know what he's like as a coach, I know what he can bring and it's a really exciting new chapter for us as a squad and we're all really happy that he's here.
"As a player, that's what you want - you want a coach that drives the standards, the highest standards possible."
Smith admitted it had been challenging coming in a month into the season, but would be confident he could take the Roar up a gear.
"From my point of view everything will be done to a very high standard, on and off the pitch," Smith said.
"I won't go into too much depth but there's going to be a lot more intensity in what we do.
"In our pressing (intense) and when we have the ball there's going to be quite a bit more discipline.
"The result last week wasn't what it should have been, regardless of who was in charge."
On Saturday, the in-form Phoenix will attempt to maintain their start strong to the season when they face the Mariners on the road.
Adelaide United will host Sydney FC and former star Reds striker Fiona Worts.
The Sky Blues are back in ALW action after their AFC Women's Club Championship tilt and have named Cortnee Vine to return from a hamstring injury.
Adelaide have lost young forward Emilia Murray to injury.
On Saturday night, early leaders Perth Glory will attempt to mark skipper Tash Rigby's 100th ALW game with a win over a rejuvenated Melbourne Victory.
On Sunday, Newcastle should be bolstered by guest signing and Matildas playmaker Emily van Egmond for their home clash with second-placed Melbourne City.
Van Egmond has signed on for a four-game guest stint with the Jets under coach and father Gary.
Newcastle have the unenviable task of shutting down brilliant City star Holly McNamara.
Western Sydney's clash with Canberra United has been postponed due to a lack of ground availability.
