Brisbane Roar have climbed off the bottom of the A-League Men table after birthday boy Samuel Klein helped them come from behind to post a 3-1 win over new wooden spoon favourites Perth Glory.

Glory opened the scoring in the seventh minute of Saturday night's match at HBF Park courtesy of a goal-of-the-year contender from Luke Amos in front of 6469 fans.

But it was all Brisbane from that point on, with new Roar recruit Asumah Abubakar levelling the scores in the 37th minute, before a superb second-half double to Klein, on his 21st birthday, sealed the win.

The result lifted Roar to 11 points, level with Glory, but Brisbane leapfrogged their rivals due to a far superior goal difference.

And with Brisbane boasting two games in hand on Glory, plus the fact five of the Roar's remaining seven games are at home, Perth now appear destined for a second straight wooden spoon.

Four of Glory's five remaining games are on the road.

"We're frustrated. I'm frustrated," Glory coach David Zdrilic said.

"We started the game exactly how we wanted to with a beautiful goal that normally should win you a game like this, and we were just not able to maintain that start for 90 minutes."

Glory's opening goal was a ripper.

After receiving the ball back from Adam Taggart in a nice one-two manoeuvre, former Tottenham midfielder Amos let fire from 30 yards out in a shot that rocketed into the top right corner.

Brisbane levelled the scores in scrappy fashion in the 37th minute when new signing Asumah Abubakar found a way through Glory's defence and bundled the ball in.

Klein put Brisbane ahead in the 51st minute when he rifled home an opportunistic volley for his maiden A-League goal.

And the win was secured in the 89th minute when an unopposed Klein dribbled to the edge of the box before curling his shot in.

"I remember taking my analyst at the time, driving him down through traffic an hour and a half to watch him play for Gold Coast on a little scout mission without him knowing," Roar coach Ruben Zadkovich said of Klein.

"One thing that was really clear was his hunger and his ability to go box to box. But he's got a lot of technical ability as well.

"I thought his first goal is a really good reaction goal, but his second goal shows the quality that he's got in his game.

"And on his birthday, being a Queenslander, the team and and the coaching staff and the club are really happy for him."
