The street has been taped off between School Lane and Ruabon Road since about 3.30pm. The closure is causing congestion and delays on surrounding roads in the area, including Wilmslow Road.
Images taken at the scene this evening showed several police vehicles in attendance. Yellow evidence markers could be seen in the road as police officers scoured the scene.
Stagecoach Manchester & Wigan tweeted: "A serious RTC has closed the junction of Parrs Wood Rd and has forced diverted traffic on to Wilmslow Rd. This is having an impact on these services and there are delays of 15-30 mins. We are sorry if this has an impact on your journey with us this evening.
Greater Manchester Police has been approached for further information.
