Road restrictions revealed ahead of major Lanarkshire event this weekend

A traffic restriction order will be in place at this Saturday's massive Stereofunk event at Chatelherault Country Park.

As well as prohibited traffic, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture have announced the popular Lanarkshire visitor attraction will also be closed for the day due to the huge music festival.

Access to the children's playpark will also be subject to restrictions during the course of the day.

An announcement on the Chatelherault Country Park Facebook page read: "The Visitor Centre including the Oaks' Café, the Gift Shop and all toilet facilities will be closed to the public.

"Pedestrian access to some areas including the playpark will be restricted.

"A traffic restriction order will be enforced on Carlisle Road from Barncluith Roundabout to Larkhall, prohibiting traffic from stopping or parking on this section of road. All residential areas in Ferniegair and Barncluith will be subject to this order also.

"Police and their contractors will enforce this order and illegally parked vehicles will be removed."

Revellers at Sereofunk will be treated to an afternoon of music with none other than nineties cult favourites, The Vengaboys, headlining the hugely popular festival.

And you can bet your bottom dollar the Dutch Eurodance group will bring their 90s hits Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, We Like to Party and We Are Going to Ibiza, to the new venue on Saturday, April 30.

More than 60 DJs and live acts - including DJ Sammy, JX, Rui Da Silva, Ultra Sonic, Dream Frequency, Flip and Fill, Ultrabeat, Micky Modelle and Clyde 1 DJ George Bowie - will play across four platforms in this one day spectacular running from 12pm to 10.30pm.

The Venga Boys will play the legendary Lanarkshire music festival, Stereofunk (UGC)

Stereofunk organisers are delighted to be back in business following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic and at their new location of Chatelherault, having previously held the gig at Strathclyde Country Park.

They told Lanarkshire Live "After a two year break we are over the moon to be back doing what we love.

"We are reninding people that due to Wi-Fi and signal issues on the site, Stereofunk Festival is operating our bar and merchandise as cash only! Tokens will be available to purchase with cash at our dedicated token booths to keep the bar queues down!

"We can't wait to see you all on Saturday."
