Road remains closed in Sallins following serious crash

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a very serious road traffic collision in Sallins last night.

The crash took place on the Sallins bypass in Castlesize shortly after 11pm on Saturday night, when two vehicles collided, causing injuries to the occupants of both vehicles.

Two males in one car, one aged in his mid-40s and one aged in his mid-70s, were rushed from the scene to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin, where they remain in critical condition this morning.

Meanwhile, the two people in the other vehicle - a male and female both aged in their late 20s - were transported to Tallaght University Hospital, where both remain in serious but stable condition.

The road remains closed this morning to allow Garda forensic collision investigators to conduct a full examination of the scene, while local diversions are in place for traffic.

A Garda spokesperson told The Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. They are also appealing to road users who were travelling on the Sallins By-Pass between 11p.m. and 11.30p.m. with camera footage (including dash cam), to make it available to them.

"Anyone with any information can contact Clane Garda Station on 045 868 262, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
