THE A9 has been closed in both directions following a crash in the Highlands.
The collision reportedly happened around 11:55am on the Inverness to Thurso road, near the junction with the B9174.
Officers were reportedly turning away drivers on the road, as emergency crews were on the scene.
Police confirmed two vehicles were involved in the collision but it is unknown if there were any injuries.
Traffic Scotland had warned motorists in the area that the road was closed in both directions and that they should find an alternative route.
A statement posted on Traffic Scotland’s website read: “The A9 at Tain is currently closed in both directions, due to a road traffic collision.
“Road users are advised to use an alternative route and allow extra time for their journey.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving two vehicles on the B9174 around 11.55am this morning.”
They added the road has been reopened.
