The RNLI Girvan Lifeboat raced out to tend to a stricken boat this morning.
The unit was summoned to a fishing vessel which had suffered a mechanical failure and lost power just off the Girvan coast.
It was the team's first call-out of 2022 and a spokesperson said: "This morning at 10.09am, Girvan Lifeboat was requested to launch. Our volunteer crew responded immediately on activation of their pagers and quickly descended on the lifeboat station.
"Our tasking this morning, our first call-out of 2022, was to a fishing vessel working close to Girvan that had a mechanical failure and had lost power.
"Our Shannon class all-weather lifeboat was soon on scene less than five minutes after launching and the best course of action was to tow the vessel back to Girvan harbour.
"The lifeboat soon had the vessel under tow and a short time later both boats were back in Girvan harbour."
The casualty vessel was safely berthed with the assistance of the Girvan team before the owner began the task of carrying out the necessary repairs.
