EMERGENCY services rushed to Prestwick Airport on Monday after an aircraft declared an "in-flight emergency".
The Troon RNLI lifeboat was called out at the request of HM Coastguard because of the airport's location.
According to the lifeboat crew, "coastguard rescue teams and other partner emergency services" also responded to the alert at 4.28pm on October 23.
A lifeboat spokesperson said: "Due to the coastal location of Prestwick airport, Belfast Coastguard were alerted to the incident on board the inbound aircraft, and immediately tasked the all-weather lifeboat along with coastguard rescue teams to assist other partner emergency services."
The volunteer crew assembled at the station and the Trent class lifeboat "RNLB Jim Moffat" launched and took up a position near the airport.
Shortly after arriving at the location, confirmation came through from Belfast Coastguard that the aircraft had landed safely.
The lifeboat returned to Troon and was made "ready for service" with the assistance of the shore crew.
