Riyad Mahrez and John Stones return as Man City fans predict Everton line-up

Manchester City return to Premier League action this evening hoping to respond to last weekend's defeat to Tottenham.

Harry Kane's last-minute header condemned Pep Guardiola's men to defeat at the Etihad Stadium and opened up the title race once more.

After Liverpool thrashed Leeds United 6-0 in midweek, Jurgen Klopp's side sit just three points behind City but do not play this weekend due to their involvement in the Carabao Cup final.

City could extend their lead back to six points but will have to overcome Everton in order to do so.

Frank Lampard's team need the points to boost their survival chances, with the Toffees sitting in 16th - just two points above the drop following Burnley's surprise victory over Spurs.

In what is a huge game in City's bid for the title, here's how the fans would line up against Everton.

Goalkeeper - Ederson

No shocks here.

With it being a league game and the Brazilian fit to play, it is no surprise that City fans want to see their first choice goalkeeper start despite conceding three goals last time out.

Defenders - Kyle Walker, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones, Joao Cancelo

City fans' first change comes at centre-back as John Stones returns to the starting line-up to face his old club.

Ruben Dias is the man who drops out after having a torrid time against Kane last weekend.

Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo both had good games last Saturday, despite the former being at fault for the winner.

Midfielders - Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne

All three men started in the previous fixture but Bernardo Silva has been moved back into midfield having been in the forward line against Spurs.

Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne both produced less than impressive displays in the defeat but both get the chance to redeem themselves.

Ilkay Gundogan may feel hard done by having scored in the last match.

Forwards - Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling

The second change sees Mahrez return to the XI in place of Gundogan.

The Algerian came off the bench to score what looked to be the final goal of the game against Antonio Conte's men before Kane had his say late on.

Foden is moved into the central position of the three while Sterling is on the familiar left-hand side of the attack.
