River Walk Market: Battersea Power Station to welcome new independent foodie market

River Walk Market, a new independent foodie-focused destination, is set to open under the iconic towers of Battersea Power Station at the beginning of next month.

The new market, which comes from the team behind sustainability champions Real Food Festivals, will host 25 artisan food producers, street food traders, live music, artists and designers every Saturday from May 4.

The market will be situated at Circus West Village, the foodie hub that sits between the Grade II-listed Power Station and the River Thames. The area is currently home to a number of prominent London restaurant brands including Vivek Singh’s Cinnamon Kitchen, seafood expert Wright Brothers and Iberian food connoisseur Tapas Brindisa.

Street food offerings at River Walk Market will include the likes of sustainable, Italian-inspired burger buff Tongue n’ Cheek – which has made it onto our list of the best burgers in the capital – and New Orleans sandwich sensation Bayou (formerly known as Slingin’ Po’Boys), which will be serving up baguettes fully loaded with the flavours of the deep south.

Food producers showcasing and selling their creation will include American bakery Outsider Tart, European deli Popina, Sicilian dessert experts Casa Cannoli, award-winning sourdough sensation The Flour Station and British cheese enthusiast Heritage Cheese. Battersea Brewery, the seriously local micro-brewery based a stone’s throw away at Arches Lane, will also be showcasing its beers.

Designers and makers will be on show, including milliner Dasmarca, accessory expert Starling & Hider and Ghanaian-inspired Katiico Jewellery. Visitors will also be entertained by a weekly changing line-up of new musicians, curated by Busk in London.

“We are really looking forward to becoming part of this local community,” said Real Food Festival director Fabio Diu, “and offering a new space for people to enjoy their weekends eating, shopping and drinking the best of London’s independent producers.”

River Walk Market will run from 11am-5pm on every Saturday from May 4, at Circus West Village, Battersea Power Station, SW11 8AH. For more information, visit batterseapowerstation.co.uk
