Rivaldo sends Gabriel Jesus message as Man City told how to overcome West Ham challenge

Here are your Manchester City headlines on Saturday, May 14.

Rivaldo sends message to Gabriel Jesus amid Man City exit reports

Former Brazil forward Rivaldo has offered Gabriel Jesus some advice as he continues to be linked with a move away from Manchester City. Arsenal have been strongly linked with the striker in recent weeks, with talk escalating due to the announcement of Erling Haaland's signing at the Etihad.

Jesus has scored 18 goals in 54 appearances for his country and has impressed in recent weeks at City, with four goals in the recent win over Watford as well as a goal in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. Rivaldo has admitted his admiration for the star in a recent interview with Betfair, stating that the striker should be starting at City but that he should now be seeking a move away.

"I have been saying for a while that Gabriel Jesus has the quality to be a starter at Manchester City and he has ultimately shown it in recent weeks with great performances and many goals, however, the arrival of Haaland will make life difficult for him next season," he said.

Pep Guardiola's aggressive strategy can help Man City at West Ham

City have the luxury of knowing that effectively one win from two will bring them the Premier League title. The goal difference they have worked up in recent games means that even if they lose a game they will not necessarily be knocked off top spot.

Pep Guardiola does not have the luxury of picking from a number of senior defenders for the trip to West Ham. Ruben Dias, John Stones and Kyle Walker are all out for the season while Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho then both went off with injuries in the midweek win over Wolves.

Weighing up the two remaining games, the safe thing to do would be to get what they can from their trip to a West Ham side chasing Europa League football, before concentrating on Aston Villa on the final day when all of their players will have had a week of rest. Football rarely works like that though, with Villa giving Liverpool a really tough test this week and the 10-year anniversary of Sergio Aguero's most famous goal a handy reminder not to rule anything out.
