Rival Love Island show sees sexy singletons look for their 'perfect match'

Love Island fans who are sad to see this year’s series come to an end could have a brand new TV obsession in the form of MTV’s Are You The One?

The new dating show, which is already a hit in the US and has run for eight seasons, is making its debut in the UK this summer with a batch of singletons looking for their other half. The spicy Paramount+ dating show features a cast of twenty stunning Brits looking for love.

Launching on Monday, August 8 on the channel and streaming service, the show will see its cast thrown into a luxurious villa in Malta – as opposed to Majorca.

As the show finally makes its way across the pond for its first ever UK series, hosted by Radio 1 Xtra and Lionesses Live’ broadcaster Joelah Noble, it will see the cast searching for their scientific ‘Perfect Match’, who is somewhere among their fellow contestants.

Through chemistry-driven testing and games, the group needs to find the ten biologically perfect pairings. If they can uncover all ten ‘Perfect Matches’ by the end of the series they will be rewarded with not only love, but a huge cash prize.

With plenty of challenges, dates and the dreaded Truth Booth to help them decipher the matches, the show’s singles take part in Match Up Ceremonies in each episode to determine who is the one, and who is just another summer romance.

Speaking of the new series, host Joelah Noble said: “I couldn’t be more excited to be fronting the first UK series of ‘Are You The One’. I have loved this show for years, so it really was a dream job for me!

“Expect romance, drama and passion ... all the best ingredients for an amazing series which teaches us that it’s not always easy to find your ‘perfect match’ but it’s very much worth it!”

The show will air every Monday at 10pm on MTV from August 8, but will be available in full on streaming platform Paramount+ to binge watch from the off.

The show’s fiery first look for the upcoming series promises just as much drama as there has been on this year’s Love Island, as two potential lovers argue over the fact they may not be each other's types.

One of the handsome male singles says: “I've got to get a few things off my chest. I thought we had a great day today but then in front of everyone you dropped the bombshell that I'm not even your type.

“You're telling me I'm number one, but then you go to Juan 'my head is scrambled'. Don't tell me I'm number one…”

The girl replies: “You are number one,” but he claps back: “Well what's your head to be scrambled about then? I've laid my cards out and if I'm not your type right, and if you're feeling like your head is turning, then it's not right.”

She explains that looks wise she does have a type, and he doesn't fit into that, but it won't stop her from getting to know him.

She says: "You are my number one but I have other options, so does everyone else."
