Rita Ora's shame as she admits 'exhausted' NHS worker mum fumed over her lockdown party

Rita Ora has revealed her mum Vera's reaction to her lockdown rule break.

The Hot Right Now singer, 32, was fined £10,000 for throwing a secret 30th birthday part in lockdown.

Rita's bash, which was held in London's Notting Hill restaurant Casa Cruz, was attended by famous friends including Vas Morgan and Cara and Poppy Delevingne.

When photos of the party were released, Rita received huge criticism and the party was later branded "one of the most egregious and notorious" breaches of lockdown rules during the pandemic by police.

Rita shared a lengthy statement on her Instagram story and said she was "deeply sorry" for her actions but has remained largely silent on the matter.

Now, the I Will Never Let You Down singer has revealed her mother's reaction to her lockdown party.

In an interview with Glamour magazine, Rita explained: "She was upset with me, that was the worst bit, seeing her working every day and coming home exhausted and knowing what I did, was obviously avoidable."

Rita's mum Vera is a psychiatrist but worked on the NHS frontline in the pandemic to support A&E doctors.

She said in an Instagram video posted during the pandemic: "My name is Vera Ora and I'm a psychiatrist.

"I'm going back to work tomorrow - I work with mental health patients, however, due to the pressure on the NHS I will be asked to go to the front line to help with A&E and other departments.

"It's a very dangerous time and not everyone is being safe and staying at home and we are becoming overwhelmed with patients coming through and putting everyone at risk."

Fury erupted on social media after pictures of Rita's party emerged online.
She later shared a statement to apologise. It read: "Hello all, I attended a small gathering with some friends to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was a spur of the moment decision made with the misguided view that we were coming out of lockdown and this would be OK... I'm deeply sorry for breaking the rules and in turn understand that this puts people at risk.

"This was a serious and inexcusable error of judgement. Given the restrictions, I realise how irresponsible these actions were and I take full responsibility .

"I feel particularly embarrassed knowing first-hand how hard people have worked to combat this terrible illness and being fully aware of the sacrifices that people and businesses have made to help keep us all safe .Even though this won't make it right, I want to sincerely apologise."

Rita has since put the scandal behind her and recently tied the knot with filmmaker Taika Waititi.

She confirmed her marriage in January this year, as she said on Heart Radio Breakfast: ""I am officially off the market people. I chose to keep it more private and keep it to myself more but with my new video I am playing on what could have been.

"When the rumours came out is she, isn't she? I wanted to play on it. I wanted to do a wedding that didn't go to plan… that's not to say that is actually what happened."

Revealing more about her special day, Rita said: "It was perfect. It was exactly, exactly how I wanted.
