Rita Ora and Taika Waititi to 'marry soon' with A-list celebration planned for the summer

Rita Ora and film director Taika Waititi are reportedly planning their wedding together, after both stars almost simultaneously popped the question to one another.

Engagement rumours have been circulating around the happy couple for some time now - with speculation the Thor director got down on one knee over Christmas at one point.

But it seems that wasn't the case, with pals of Rita claiming there was "no ring or big build-up" and the pair are planning a low-key wedding very soon to "formalise" their relationship.

The insider says the couple, who "couldn't be happier", will host a more glitzy showbiz bash to celebrate later in the year.

It's been reported that the two stars will tie the knot as soon as they get a break in their busy schedules.

Singer Rita is currently Down Under, working on the Australian version of The Voice, while filmmaker Taika is busy working on a number of movies - including a new chapter in the popular Star Wars franchise.

"They didn’t do a whole, ‘Will you marry me?’ thing and an Instagram post," the source told The Sun when discussing how wedding planning came about.

"There’s no ring or big build-up. They just got closer and closer and eventually said to each other almost simultaneously, ‘I want to marry you’.

"It’s actually really romantic and just exactly the way they are together."

They went on to claim that the loved-up pair plan to become husband and wife abroad, with just their nearest and dearest present, before a bigger celebration taking place in London with all their famous pals.

"But for now it’s about getting down the aisle and making things official," they added.

"There are a few details to iron out, but it’s coming soon and it’ll be beautifully intimate and perfectly them."

Rita - who has previously dated newly-engaged Calvin Harris and Rob Kardashian - and the New Zealand filmmaker officially became an item at the start of 2021, following the Marvel's star separation from wife Chelsea Winstanley in March 2020.

Rumours first started about the pair when Rita shared a snap of the couple cuddling in matching outfits to her Instagram account back in April 2021.

The Sylvia Young Theatre School graduate captioned the picture: "Good times, memories, random things on my phone and the ones I love.. "

The glamorous couple made their red carpet debut in August last year as they attended the LA premiere of The Suicide Squad.

They were even discussing marriage last year, with a source revealing Taika called Rita "wifey".

While Rita has never previously never been married, this will be Taika's second time down the aisle.

Taika shares two daughters with his ex-wife Chelsea; Te Hinekāhu and Matewa Kiritapu.

The Mirror has approached a representative for Rita for comment.
