Rita Ora and her husband Taika Waititi will co-host the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) next month, it has been announced.
Ora, 31, and Waititi, 47, will become the first couple to host the awards show at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany, on November 13.
A photo on the MTV EMAs Instagram page heralded the announcement. It showed Ora posing in a bright green gown alongside Waititi, who was dressed in a grey suit, with the pair holding MTV EMAs.
Ora and Waititi, who secretly tied the knot in the summer, expressed their excitement at the news in a joint statement.
“We’re excited to host this year’s MTV EMAs and celebrate the best musicians and performances from around the world,” they said.
“We look forward to sharing the evening with all of these talented artists.”
Ora previously hosted the 2017 EMAs at London’s Wembley Arena, during which she received several nominations and won the Power of Music Award.
“I’m thrilled to be back hosting, and sharing the stage with Taika makes it all the more special,” she added of her co-hosting role this year.
“We’ve got it all at this year’s EMAs; fun surprises, fantastic fashion, comedy, and above all amazing music! We can’t wait for audiences to share these moments with us.”
Ora and Thor: Love and Thunder director Waititi went public with their romance in 2021, five months after they began dating in March of that year.
Reports emerged that the pair had married in August after they were each seen sporting gold wedding bands.
Sources around the time of the wedding speculation claimed that the couple had been planning a big party with family and friends to celebrate their secret nuptials.
Ora gave rare insight into her marriage on Jaime Winstone’s Greatest Night Ever podcast recently.
“I’m in love. I’m very much in love,” she said. “I’m in love, I’m in love, amen!
“But I love love as well. I’ve always been such a believer in it and I’ve always felt like I always wanted the fairy tale and that’s what I grew up loving.”
The 2022 MTV EMAs will broadcast live on MTV and on Pluto TV in select regions across the US, Latin America and Europe and on Comedy Central in Germany on November 13.
