Emerging midcourter Georgie Horjus says she's primed for a potential Australian debut in the looming netball series against England.
The Diamonds meet arch-rivals England in a three-Test series starting on Thursday night in Horjus's home-town Adelaide.
The 22-year-old Horjus is a fresh face in the Diamonds' 15-strong squad alongside Rudi Ellis and Ash Ervin.
"It has been super special to be in the Diamonds environment," Horjus said on Monday.
"All the other girls have been awesome and to learn so much in a short period of time is awesome.
"It has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl so it's very exciting, it's lots of fun.
"There's lots of girls that are still like my idols that I was watching and wanted to be like them, so it's really cool that I can learn from them."
Horjus has been given no guarantees, but is hopeful of court-time in the series-opener in Adelaide, to be followed by Tests in Sydney on Sunday and in Bendigo on September 25.
"I haven't heard anything, I think we find out on game day," the Adelaide Thunderbirds star said.
"I'm really lucky that the game is in Adelaide and to debut here would be really special - I have got lots of family and friends coming so fingers crossed."
The Kangaroo Island-born Horjus was the Thunderbirds' player of the finals when the team won the Super Netball title and a key factor in Adelaide repeating that feat this year.
Horjus, who has represented Australia in the Fast5 Netball World Series, said her transition into the Diamonds squad had been seamless.
"I've just done my best to give myself the best opportunity," she said.
"I have felt really comfortable with the girls.
"It has been a step up because everyone's competing for a spot in the team so that's a challenge.
"But it has been really cool and definitely I feel part of the team."
