Rishi Sunak's £2m Yorkshire mansion with swimming pool, tennis court and gym

Rishi Sunak will soon be moving into Number 10 Down Street as the UK's new Prime Minister, but the Tory leader already has a extensive portfolio of multi-million pound properties. As one of the richest members of Parliament, Sunak already owns several luxury pads - including a holiday home in the US.

The MP for Yorkshire and his wife Akshata Murty, who is the daughter of a billionaire Indian businessman, have an estimated combined net worth of £730 million. Their properties include a £6.6million mansion in Kensington, London, and a vacation home in California.

They also own a £2m Grade II-listed Yorkshire mansion that serves as Sunak's constituency home. The new PM attracted controversy earlier this year after spending £400,000 on renovations to the property, including a swimming pool that reportedly costs £14,000 a year to heat.

Sunak has been the MP for Richmond, North Yorkshire, since 2015. His constituency home is in the picturesque village of Kirby Sigston, the Mirror reports. The Sunak family spend most weekends in North Yorkshire. His home is a historic, Grade II-listed Georgian manor house that comes with a price tag of around £2m.

Sunak and his wife purchased the house for £1.5million in 2015 and have been transforming the property, with a £400,000 swimming pool, hot tub, yoga studio, gym and tennis court. According to a report by The Guardian, it could cost a whopping £14,000 a year to heat the swimming pool in the property.

A former vicarage, the house was built in 1826. He previously converted outbuildings to create guest rooms before applying to create the swimming pool.

At the time of the pool application, one councillor complained it was out of character with the surroundings, close to the 12th century St Lawrence's church. Councillor John Noone said: “It doesn’t look like an agricultural building to me, it looks like a rather large bungalow. I think it does actually have an impact on the setting of the grade II manor house."

Sunak's home in Kensington features five bedrooms, four bathrooms and two reception rooms spread over four storeys and it also has its own private garden.

He also owns a second property in the London borough, a first-floor flat in Old Brompton Road, which he purchased in 2001 while working as an investment analyst for Goldman Sachs. It is now said to act as a holiday home for his visiting relatives.

Their California holiday home is a Santa Monica penthouse purchased by Ms Murthy directly from the developer in 2014. The luxury property, which features a view of the Pacifica Ocean, is valued at £5.5million by US property website Redin.
