Rishi Sunak 'exposed' after McDonald's claim on This Morning

Rishi Sunak's Mcdonald's claim has been exposed after he revealed his typical breakfast order on This Morning.

The former Chancellor appeared on today's edition of ITV's flagship daytime programme as he continues his bid to become leader of the Conservative party. Mr Sunak was interviewed by Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes on how he would address the mounting cost-of-living crisis.

He said: "It’s really tough and it is the number one challenge facing the new Prime Minister. My plans, I announced quite a bit of it as Chancellor, and I want to build on that as PM as the situation is worse than we thought, sadly.

"I want to cut VAT off energy bills because that will help everyone and is something you can do quite quickly. That will provide a couple of hundred extra pounds this autumn and winter on top of what I announced as Chancellor which was quite significant.

“But there are two other groups that I think need some extra help on top of that and it's those on the lowest incomes, about a third of our society, and also pensioners. Those two groups I want to provide extra financial support for. They will get extra cash, particularly over the winter in something called the ‘winter fuel payment’ and that will help during a really tricky period."

Mr Sunak was spotted in McDonald's yesterday and the presenters ended the interview by quizzing his usual order. He said: "I get a bacon roll with ketchup and pancakes. I didn't yesterday but if I'm with my daughters then we get the wrap."

However, Times journalist Geri Scott took to Twitter as she spotted a "problem" with the order. She said: "Rishi Sunak tells This Morning that if he goes to McDonald's with his daughters they all get the breakfast wrap... as a breakfast wrap aficionado I can confirm they were taken off the menu in March 2020 due to Covid, and in January it was confirmed they will never return!"

Followers flooded the comments in hysterics after the tweet.

Darren said: "I picked up on this too. We’ve only just got the bloody muffins and porridge back."

Maria added: "A Tory lying?? Never!!!!"

Andrew posted: "Oh @RishiSunak you massive fibber"

Ros commented: "Oh dear. This pretending he’s down with we common people isn’t going well is it?"
