Rio Ferdinand urges Arsenal to complete ambitious Manchester City summer transfer

Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Arsenal should target a move for Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus in the summer.

A striker will be a top priority for the Gunners in the close season, after they failed to sign a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following his departure to Barcelona in the January transfer window.

The club's only two senior strikers in Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are also both out of contract in June, meaning Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is likely to sign at least one if not two strikers this summer.

The likes of Alexander Isak and Jonathan David are just two of the names to have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

However, Ferdinand believes Jesus, who is in the last 18 months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, would be a fantastic addition to Arteta’s squad.

"If I was Arsenal, I would go and buy Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City," He said on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel.

The 24-year-old Brazil international has largely been a peripheral figure at the Etihad Stadium, since joining from Palmeiras in the summer of 2016.

However, during his time at the in Manchester he’s scored 88 goals and notched 43 assists in 222 appearances, despite largely playing second-fiddle to Sergio Aguero during the Argentine star's sublime spell in the Premier League.

Jesus can also operate across the front line, so would give Arteta different options in forward areas if he were to sign the City star.
