Ralf Rangnick has been the subject of intense criticism from former Manchester United central defender Rio Ferdinand who has called on the club to prevent him from doing anymore interviews or press conferences.
The interim manager has just one game left of what has been a turbulent reign, with Rangnick undeniably underwhelming in terms of results on the pitch but offering something different when it comes to his interactions with the media. The former RB Leipzig boss has been an open book when it comes to publicly revealing everything wrong with the inner workings of the club.
Rangnick has openly discussed the fact that he was told there was no player available that could help the cause when he identified some forward transfer targets. He has also been guilty of moaning to the press about the players he actually does have at his disposal and their athleticism.
Many fans have actually taken to his refreshing honesty and it appears to have surprisingly endeared him to the United faithful. However, Ferdinand is of the belief that it has gone too far now and Rangnick should be banned from talking to the media.
"I don’t agree with the way that he’s airing the dirty laundry in public while he’s still in the hotseat, while he’s still in there," the ex-England international told his Vibe with FIVE YouTube show. "It’s nice sometimes for fans, you want to get a bit of insight, but there’s information that he’s letting out [that he shouldn’t be].
"You’re still in the job, man, relax, have some respect for the people around you. Make waves behind the scenes. Push and pull and jostle for positions and outcomes behind the scenes with people. I’ve said this for a couple of weeks now, he’s saying a lot of stuff to almost distance himself from responsibility. But he has to accept some responsibility that the team has got worse since he’s been in there."

The former United star went on to claim that while Rangnick may have a stellar reputation at work behind the scenes, he has fallen spectacularly short in what the club brought him in to achieve this season.
"For all the great work he’s done at previous clubs, a lot of that was recruitment and bringing players in. He’s been brought in to be a manager and manage this team and navigate them to Champions League football," Ferdinand added.
"He’s failed in that department, and that’s undeniable. But then he’s shifting blame all over the place and that’s the bit that really I find a little bit distasteful."
