Rio Ferdinand tells Kai Havertz to 'shut down' following Champions League and CWC final

That’s it Chelsea fans. Retire your Kai Havertz, 29 t-shirts. Frame them in solid gold. He has done the unimaginable. He has written his name in gold after just one and a half seasons with the Blues.

Who would have thought?

Ex-Manchester United player and legend Rio Ferdinand has given nothing but high praises for the young German star since his arrival in West London. It goes without saying that the Havertz effect in finals is one to be proud of.

He may not be flourishing in the Premier League but he always shows up in the big games where it matters.

Ferdinand spoke of Havertz on his FIVE YouTube channel, saying

"He doesn't have to kick a ball ever again in a Chelsea shirt, he's repaid the £70m plus price tag now

He's scored two of the biggest goals in the history of the club.

You don't have to do no more! Shut down, undo your boots, take 'em off, chill!

It's not gonna happen but listen. If he doesn't play another game for Chelsea, he goes down in folklore."

It's not often that Chelsea fans agree with Ex-Manchester United players/ legends. Paul Scholes especially following his previous claims regarding Chelsea's defence. However, Ferdinand has a point here.

Can we already place Havertz in the Chelsea hall of fame? It is probably too early to call, but big game winners always have a place in the elite hall of fame. Especially for European trophies. Especially for competitions that Chelsea have never won before, i.e. the FIFA Club World Cup.

So far, the 22-year-old has scored the tie-breaking goals in both the Champions League final and Club World Cup final. That’s enough for him to say he has conquered what he needed with Chelsea. He needs a Premier League medal, and he can pretty much hang up his Chelsea boots.

It’s a weird opinion to have, I know. But it’s particularly weird because you then have to question why Mason Mount is not given the same consideration just yet. Mount is undoubtedly on his way to the Chelsea hall of fame. The youngster already has had a banner floating around Chelsea this season. He has won just as much as Havertz, so surely the discussion should be circulated for the pair of them.

Only time will tell where this discussion ends, but we can appreciate both ballers without putting them in the hall of fame. What they have accomplished in such a short space of time is something that dreams are made of. The rest of his career is yet to unfold.

He’s still hungry for more titles. Before winning the FIFA Club World Cup, he said, "There are still many big titles to be won, this season alone, we have the chance of the Carabao Cup against Liverpool, the FA Cup, and we’re still in the Champions League."
