Rio Ferdinand hopes that the Manchester United players are embarrassed by their display in the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez both scored a brace as City cruised to victory in the derby. Jadon Sancho's first-half strike offered hope to the visitors but it didn't take long for the home side to hit the front once again.
Speaking on the Vibe With FIVE podcast, Ferdinand did not mince his words when discussing United's performance at the Etihad. He said: "As much as we can say 'oh we did okay in the first half', we got beat 4-1.

"Let's not cling onto the positives. You look at that last 20 minutes, I have had some bad moments in a Manchester United shirt but I don't really remember times when we came off that pitch and someone could go 'you know what, you didn't try'. I maybe wasn't good enough that day, didn't perform that day maybe but it wasn't for [lack of] graft.
"That is the bare minimum for any footballer, the absolute minimum. I just hope, we can be negative and analyse the game, but I really, really hope that these players are walking in the next day and they are going 'I am embarrassed, my pride and ego has taken a battering and I am really embarrassed'.
"I hope that is the attitude, I hope that is what is in there - I don't know if it is. I think there is a lot of finger-pointing and I bet you any money that there is a lot of 'he has done this, he ain't done that'."
