Former defender Rio Ferdinand has said that those within Manchester United have been praising manager Erik ten Hag after a fortnight of pre-season training.
The Dutch coach was able to see his new squad up close over the past couple of weeks as they now gear up to fly out to Thailand for this summer’s tour. His first fortnight in the job has been far from straight-forward though.
While he has been able to sign Tyrell Malacia, a battle with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong rages on. And now, he is dealing with the possibility of losing Cristiano Ronaldo after the striker’s demand to leave.

However, this seemingly hasn’t deterred Ten Hag from instilling his ethos and methodology into his squad at Carrington. Numerous training videos released by the club have given a tactical insight into how he is approaching the new season.
And according to Ferdinand, those within United are impressed. Speaking on his YouTube show FIVE, he said: “One thing I must say, the noises I’m hearing coming out of the training is everything that you want to hear.
“They are very positive, the training sessions have been really enjoyable, real intensity, the workload is massive. They are demanding a certain type of energy and intensity from the players, so the fitness levels have to be driven up and he’s doing that.”
United jet off to Asia on Friday to take on Liverpool in Bangkok before travelling to Australia later this month.
